To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Cody Hi my name is Amanda, My son cody age 7, was diagnosed with adhd last year. It seems as though we noticed his behavior very early on. But of course being first time parents we thought it was normal child behavior. When he started kindergarten, we got a lot of phone calls, parent teacher meetings and cody was sent to the principal’s office on a daily basis. His teacher recommended we have him checked out. When he was diagnosed it finally shed some light on what he was going through. It was heartbreaking to hear your child tell you or someone else that his mind goes crazy. his behavior was horrible. Other kids would ask us if something was wrong with him and he didn’t have many friends. The most horrible events that he went thru were in school. Cody had just started a new school the same day he was diagnosed. He hadn’t started medication yet. After a week at his new school, one of the teachers helping kids into their vehicles, said to me “Cody has been labeled our school’s wild child.” I was so shocked from her statement that I didn’t have time to respond before she shut the door. This hurt me terribly as a parent. I didn’t know how his daily life in school was going and I couldn’t prove the allegations cody had about his teachers. Cody was started on Ritalin, the difference it has made in him is night and day. Cody also will tell you that his medicine helps him at school. since he had so many difficulties at this school we moved for a fresh start this time to a school that helps children with disabilities. Cody started his new school in the first grade. He has no complaints, he occasionally gets into trouble but nothing consistant. His teacher is so wonderful and really takes the time to help him. I can’t believe that he could actually finish a school year at the same school. Cody is doing wonderful now thanks to school, church and family support. I hope this can help or support anyone anyway it can. Thank you. |
